ZANOTTO, Conegliano, Italy
The Riccardo Zanotto's family vineyard is located in Tarzo a hilly area near Conegliano, that has always been dedicated to the cultivation of grapes, particularly glera. The vineyard is in a sunny position, 370 meters above sea level, facing the pre-Alps which protects it from the harsh northern winds. The land in this area is moraine, and thus rich in calcium deposits, giving the wines a marked minerality. The gentle breezes which flow through these hills and an optimal exposure to the sun, are key to the health of the vineyard, with little risk of mold or rot. The harvest is strictly by hand, and usually occurs in late September, so that the grapes can achieve their maximum expression.
